Philips SHP9500
At about $70, these are low-priced open-back headphones. I bought these as an introduction to open-back headphones and I have to say, I can really appreciate the design. The soundstage is wide and they feel airy. The sound is fine, although the bass is somewhat weaker than I’m used to having, but that can be remedied a bit with EQ.
These are wired as most open-back headphones seem to be.
Unfortunately, they just are not all that comfortable. They don’t fit my small head well and the large ear pads feel like they cover nearly all my face.
I really like the idea of open-back headphones and have found a couple bluetooth options (see below) that I may consider.
