Sad news last week that Meat Loaf has died. I’m pretty sure everyone knows who Meat Loaf is since his seminal work, Bat out of Hell, is one of the biggest-selling albums ever.
I consider Bat out of Hell one of the very first power metal songs. Even at 10 minutes long, the song flies by. It has big guitars, piano, soaring vocals in an epic chorus. It’s everything you find in power metal songs today.
But don’t forgot about the other Meat Loaf albums. Of course Bat Out of Hell II was a big hit with I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That). I also enjoyed Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose from 2006 and its follow-up Hang Cool Teddy Bear from 2010. Be sure to give them a listen.
RIP.
