There was a bunch of new music released on Friday, April 25 that I’ve already been enjoying!
Skeleta - Ghost
It’s a Big Deal when a new Ghost album comes out. This one may not be quite as good as Impera or Prequelle on first listen, but it’s got the big hooks and crunchy guitars you expect.
Welcome to the Future - H.E.A.T.
One of my favorite EuroRock bands, these guys are great at melodic hard rock that would have fit in perfectly in the 80s. I’ve only listened to this once so far, but it will certainly be in heavy rotation as their prior albums were.
Dream Into It - Billy Idol
I loved The Cage EP from a couple years ago and was excited to see a new full-length. I am really enjoyed this. There are lots of collabs, which are cool: Avril! Joan Jett!
Like The Cage, it’s a more mature Billy Idol and I’m here for it.
Linkin Park
Another single was released from the upcoming deluxe edition of From Zero (out May 16). Unshatter is a great new tune. So far, I loved everything from the new lineup! Be sure to also check out Up From the Bottom.
Chasing Euphoria - Harem Scarem
(Updated April 27, 2025): I didn’t notice this album from Canadian AOR band, Harem Scarem. I’m not a huge fan of them, but they have some solid tunes.
Ghost release day is like Christmas to me. Reserving judgment because I didn’t love Impera at first but it quickly clicked and I ended up spinning it nonstop. First impression of Skeleta is that the guitar work is fantastic. Maybe some of the best strat metal since Jake E Lee
