I previously wrote about the aiaiai TMA-2 Move that I purchased last year. These are great, lightweight, modular bluetooth headphones. At the time (Feb 2022), aiaiai had mentioned there would be a firmware update and an app available in the near future.
I checked periodically throughout 2022 and have now found that a firmware update has been posted. However there are precious few details about it.
I’ve emailed aiaiai for more information, but as of this posting have not heard anything back yet.
If you want to update the firmware, you can find the download link on this page: Help/Troubleshooting/How can I update my S10?
The site is a bit confusing because this page about the S10 firmware update says “Please stay tuned for more information.”
Anyway, the update can only be run from a Windows computer at this time. When you run the installer be sure to select Qualcomm USB Debug Drivers from the installer screen when prompted. There are other things listed but I didn’t select them.
After it finishes installing, the updater itself appears. Its Help menu says that this is Version 2.0.0-beta.5.
I then clicked Begin and then chose S10:
This displayed the Upgrade screen:
I then clicked upgraded as was informed it would upgrade my S10 speakers from 1.0.1 to 1.1.2. This took about 3 or 4 minutes.
After doing this, so far everything seems to be working fine. There is no list of what was changed or fixed, but the one glitch I noticed in my initial review seems to be fixed:
There is a glitch with them that can cause the music to not play when rapidly switching between songs, sadly something you might do when testing, but pausing and continue seems to alleviate it.
I’ll post an update if I hear back from aiaiai.
Update (Dec 19, 2022): I heard back from aiaiai support and got this answer regarding the changes in the firmware update:
These are the fixes in the firmware:
- Maximum volume increased by 3dB to upper legal safety limit
- Audio cut-out when switching between devices resolved
Hey Paul, Not a gear head but appreciate someone who is. Meanwhile, I'm going to be doing a lot more posts on the offshore metal scene (especially Japan, rest of Asia, Eastern Europe) so I hope you'll come along for the ride!
